Green Door Theatre Company is a Sydney based, independent company, specialising in provocative new work. GDTC places artists, and social impact at the centre of the producing process. We are a company that values artistic time and contribution above all else. We believe in the power of theatre to shift perception and behaviour.

Leila is a creative producer with a strong commitment to new writing. She is the Creative Producer of Green Door Theatre Company, which develops work (Orange Thrower that is now in the Griffin 2021 season and Lady Tabouli that was in the 2020 Sydney Festival). She produces award winning theatre If We Got Some More Cocaine I Could Show You How I Love You by John O’Donovan, Lady Tabouli and Omar and Dawn both by James Elazzi, How Dare You by Kate Chalmers and Good Dog by Arinzé Kene. She is currently the Producer and Head of New Writing at the Darlinghurst Theatre Company. She has produced the 2018 National Play Festival, was the Associate Producer at Playwriting Australia and Playwrights Associate for Festival Fatale 2018. Leila began working in independent theatre in Melbourne, as the Artistic Director of FLW Theatre Company and General Manager. She has been involved in the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Short and Sweet and Mudfest as a producer and performer. Leila has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Literature and History, a Certificate in Classics from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and a Diploma in Community Arts and Cultural Development. Leila is a 2020 Churcill Fellow.

Bernadette is a multidisciplinary artist working across theatre making, directing, writing, dramaturge and creative producing.

As an artist, Bernadette is passionate about exploring the intricacies of identity, belonging and cultural connection in Australia’s current socio-economic landscape. Her recent directing and theatremaking credits include:  directing the Young Artist Ensemble for Q Theatre, assistant directing Lady Tabouli (National Theatre of Parramatta/Sydney Festival) and tutaj/ هناك (here/there) (BATCH 2020/Green Door Theatre Company).  She is currently assistant directing Alex Berlage for Hayes Theatre Company’s Young Frankenstein, and leading multiple new work developments as director and dramaturg for projects including The Lifecycle of Blanco by Vonne Patiag (Antipodes Theatre), Sunlit by Jojo Zhou, and Tataraimaka Moana by Daley Rangi (Green Door Theatre Company). As Dramaturg she recently worked during SydFest 2021 on Sydney Chamber Opera’s Future Remains double bill which received four and a half stars from the Sydney Morning Herald and assisted on PYT Fairfield’s Dorr-e Dari which received four stars.  Writing credits include: Mother (Commission for the Annual Youth Theatre Festival – Q Theatre), Fight or Flight (Intersection: Beat - ATYP), tutaj/ هناك (here/there) (Green Door Theatre Company with development support from Griffin Theatre Company).  She is currently in commission with Belvoir/Co-curious working on her mainstage writing debut. She was awarded the 2019 Create NSW Young Creative Leaders Fellowship. Bernadette is the Artist in Residence at PYT, Fairfield, Creative Producer at Critical Stages Touring, and Associate Creative Producer of Green Door Theatre Company.
